Can I install a GFCI outlet myself safely and correctly?
You can replace a GFCI yourself, but the safest, code‑correct approach is to have an electrician install and test it. Many local codes require GFCIs in bathrooms, kitchens, and other wet areas. The device must be wired on the correct line/load terminals and tested to prevent shock. If a GFCI or breaker trips again after you reset it, call an electrician.
